Why every paid Magento extension needs Hyvä compatibility

Hyvä replaces the Luma render layer — Knockout templates, RequireJS modules, and the Magento UI Component system are all gone. Extensions written against those frontends don't render anything on Hyvä; the extension's backend logic still runs, but its visible output is silent.

A Hyvä compatibility module is an adapter: it re-implements the extension's frontend under Alpine.js + Tailwind, preserving the extension's functionality and admin UX while making the storefront output Hyvä-native. Many vendors now ship their own. For the rest, we build a custom one.

When to skip Hyvä compatibility and switch extensions

Sometimes the right answer isn't to build compat — it's to replace the extension with a Hyvä-native alternative. Two scenarios where we recommend swapping:

The extension is deeply abandoned. If the vendor hasn't shipped updates in years, building compat now is sinking budget into something that will need replacing anyway.
A native Hyvä module exists.When there's a Hyvä-first equivalent that does the same job at comparable cost, swapping is cleaner than maintaining a custom compat in perpetuity.
