Amasty is the largest established Magento extension vendor, with 16+ years in market and 250+ modules in their catalog. They are a defensible choice for stores that prioritize feature breadth and a long-tenured support team. They are not the right choice for every Magento store. This comparison covers where each option fits.
Written by the team behind eTechFlow Modules. We are obviously not neutral, but we are accurate. We have used Amasty modules in customer engagements and respect what they do well.
What Amasty does well
- Catalog breadth. 250+ modules across nearly every Magento feature category. If you need a module for something obscure, Amasty probably has it.
- Tenured support team. Multi-person support staff with formal SLAs. Ticket-based, professional.
- Track record. The same team has been shipping since 2009. Their modules are battle-tested across many years of Magento versions.
- Documentation depth. Per-module install guides, API references, and admin walkthroughs. Generally thorough.
- Compliance and certifications. Adobe Technology Partner status, Magento Association membership, and enterprise-grade contractual options.
Where Amasty falls short for some stores
- Hyvä compatibility is uneven. Most Amasty modules ship Luma-first. Hyvä compatibility modules exist for some but not all. If you are Hyvä-first, this gap costs real engineering time.
- Pricing has subscription components. Several Amasty modules use subscription pricing or aggressive subscription renewals. Read the small print on each product page before purchase.
- Performance varies module-to-module. Amasty does not publish per-module Lighthouse scores. Some modules are fast. Some are heavy. You will not know which until you install on staging.
- Catalog size = quality variance. 250 modules is hard to maintain at uniform quality. Newer or niche modules sometimes lag in updates compared to flagship products.
- Refund process. Refunds available but require a request through a structured process. Less frictionless than a direct email.
What eTechFlow does differently
- Hyvä-first by design. Every eTechFlow module is built and tested on Hyvä before shipping. Magento Luma compatibility is the secondary target. If you have migrated to Hyvä or plan to, this matters.
- Smaller, curated catalog. 10 modules at launch, growing slowly. Every module passes Lighthouse 90 mobile before it ships. We turn down submissions that would otherwise pay us, because uniform quality is the product.
- One-time pricing, no surprise subscriptions. Lifetime tier means lifetime. Subscription tier is clearly marked as a separate option, not the default with opt-out.
- Published Lighthouse scores. Every module page shows the Lighthouse mobile score the module passed against. New versions update the score. Regressions are visible.
- Direct support. Reply to the delivery email and an engineer responds within one business day, usually faster. No ticket queue, no first-line script.
- 30-day refund, no friction. Email refunds@etechflow.com with the order ID. Refunded within 5 to 10 business days. No forms, no required justification.

When to pick Amasty
- You need a module for a niche use case not covered by smaller vendors.
- Your store is still on Luma and not planning a Hyvä migration in the next 12 months.
- You value formal support SLAs over direct engineer access.
- Your procurement process requires the size and history of an established vendor.
When to pick eTechFlow
- You are Hyvä-first or migrating to Hyvä, and you want every module to work with your theme without compatibility-module gymnastics.
- You measure conversion in milliseconds and want a published performance budget on every module.
- You prefer one-time pricing and explicit subscription opt-ins over default-subscription pricing.
- You value direct engineer support over ticket-system support.
The honest verdict
Amasty is a competent choice and we have no qualms recommending them for Luma stores or specialized features outside our catalog. They have been delivering Magento modules for longer than most teams have been in business.
eTechFlow is the better choice when your store has migrated (or is migrating) to Hyvä, when performance discipline matters, and when you want a curated catalog over an aggregator catalog. Our story is "fewer modules, all great." Their story is "every module you might need." Both are valid. Pick the one whose story matches your situation.
Next step
If you want to evaluate eTechFlow: browse the catalogue. Every module has a 30-day refund window. Buy one, install on staging, run Lighthouse before and after. If it doesn't meet the published score, email refunds@etechflow.com.
