Customer story · Keystation
Custom make / model / year / engine search plus a Hyvä-native click-and-collect flow, layered on four eTechFlow marketplace modules. Search-to-cart up 32 percent and click-and-collect at 22 percent of orders within twelve weeks.
The problem
The client was Keystation, a UK car-key retailer running Magento Open Source 2.4.7 with a Luma theme. Two specific problems were costing real money. First, the default Magento search returned mostly accessories when a buyer typed "Mercedes A-Class 2014" — they wanted the right key blank for their car, not a key fob cover for a different model, and roughly 30 percent of mobile sessions left without seeing any matching SKU. Second, despite operating a physical store in the catchment, the site offered no click-and-collect option, so customers in nearby postcodes who needed a key today had no faster choice than overnight delivery.
What we did
Hyvä migration first to fix the mobile-perf baseline, then a custom vehicle-compatibility cascade on top of the AI Smart Search module — make → model → year → engine, mapped to an internal vehicle database (UVDB-style structured data) so every key SKU is tagged with the exact vehicles it fits, not free-text descriptions. PDP gets a "Fits your vehicle" badge once the cascade is filled. Click-and-collect built on Hyvä: real-time inventory check against the in-store stock feed, with the Next Day Eligibility module deciding whether the postcode qualifies for collect-today vs collect-tomorrow vs ship-only. WhatsApp Order Notifications module wired in to send the buyer the "ready to collect" message the moment the key is cut. AI Cart Recovery + WhatsApp module catches the dropouts who left the cascade halfway through.
The outcome
Twelve weeks post-launch, search-to-cart conversion rose from 24 percent to 32 percent (an 8-point lift on a search that handles 18,000+ mobile queries a week). Click-and-collect adoption hit 22 percent of orders inside twelve weeks, with 91 percent of those collected on the same day. Mobile bounce on the new search-result pages dropped from 54 percent to 43 percent. Returns flagged as "wrong key" fell from 9 percent of orders to under 2 percent — the cascade does that on its own. AI Cart Recovery + WhatsApp recovered an additional 11 percent of abandoned carts via the 24-hour message.
